Civil Code in Turkey

Laws in Turkey are a contentious issue. Looking through the civil code shows there is huge room for improvement, and as someone that has come from a country where laws span hundreds of years, Turkey is a developing country that needs to learn and adapt to respond to everyones personal rights, man or women.

There are changes that will adopted in 2012 on a commercial level and there are changes that have been made on a personal level. The Civil Code for Turkey is available to download below.

How to get your Turkish tax number (vergi kimlik)

There has been a lot of activity about this lately as Intasure have been contacting their clients concerning their tax number. All property owners will have been issued a tax number from the Bodrum or Milas tax office. Many of you will not have made a note as the solicitor may have held back this number only to charge you for retrieving it later as they never miss a trick to make more money. Luckily there is an online service to retrieve you number at the government website : https://intvd.gib.gov.tr/internetvd/index.jsp?page=IVD_VKNO This is the page you will be faced with: You need to add: surname      (in capital letters) forename       (in capital letters)  father forename  (in capital letters) Then select Yutdışı    (the last on the list) then add your year of birth (ie 1959) (note, there is a chance they will have used a Turkish i which is ı if you have an i in your name. Hundreds of holiday home owners in Turkey selling up Property investors with holiday homes in Turkey are selling them because of the economic downturn, according to real estate agents. Many of them are British who fear that they will not be able to keep up with mortgage payments and are concerned that tourism numbers will be low this year despite reports that more visitors than ever are expected.
